Allen went through a complete meatabolic test at Seattle's Real Rehab. Hoping that the test would confirm his fitness level for the upcoming race he wasn't dissapointed. Allen tested higher than any previous patient, which is extaordinary considering his age of 40 years. With a VO2 of 71, 400 watts at AT threshold and complete data on calorie consumption Allen will head into RAAM with all the physiological info he needs.
The test helps athletes determine where their specific weaknesses are, in order to aid in proper training. Allen happens to need a little more zone 3 training to help him over the big mountain ranges. "I highly recommend metabolic testing for any serious athlete" said Allen. "The info and knowledge gained is invaluable."
